In 1973, Angelou married Paul de Feu and moved with him to Sonoma.
She worked as a compose, including writting for singer Roberta Flack, and composed movie scores.
In 1977 Angelou appeared in a supporting role in the television mini-series Roots.
Her screenplay, Georgia, Georgia, was the first original script by black woman to be produced.
In the late 70s, Angelou met Oprah Winfrey when Winfrey was TV anchor in Baltimore, Maryland; Angelou would later become Winfrey's close friend and mentor.
Angelou divorced de Feu and returned to the south United State in 1981.
Angelou campaigned for the Democratic Party in the 2008 presidential primaries, giving her public support to Senator Hillary Clinton.
Obama won the South Carolina primary; finishing 29 point ahead of Clinton and taking 80% of the black vote.
When Clinton's campaign ended, Angelou put her support behind Senator Barack Obama.
Obama won the election and became the first African American president of the United Stated.
At the age of seventy, Angelou was the first African American woman to direct a major motion picture, Down in Delta, in 1998.

Margarite Johnson was born in St.Louis, on April,1928. Margarite Johnson is her real name but si change it to Maya Angelou. Her father's name is, Bailey Johnson, he was a doorman and Navy dietitian. Her mom Vivian (Batter) Johnson, was a real estate agent and trained surgical nurse. She was an excellent dancer, she won a scholarship and trained in Africa dance. Because of that she become very famous. [center]
